About
Nestled amidst the tranquil surroundings of Fendalton in Christchurch, this home has a captivating blend of contemporary allure and traditional charm. Crafted by O'Neil Architecture and Lume Design, the home features bespoke dark engineered timber flooring in herringbone format, which contrasts beautifully with the neutral interior palette.
At its core, Fendalton House VI is an exploration of materiality, where unexpected combinations and a soft palette create a sense of warmth and refinement. Throughout the home, ornate detailing adds depth and character to the expansive living areas, while statement pieces infuse personality tailored to each space's function.
Inspired by the timeless elegance of herringbone patterns, the client worked closely with the design team to explore various options and ultimately decided on a design that complemented the overall aesthetic of the home. Meticulously crafted and installed with precision, the custom herringbone flooring became a defining feature of Fendalton House VI, adding a touch of bespoke luxury to every room.
From the striking use of brass, bluestone, and marble to the intricate detailing that brings depth to every corner, this residence is a celebration of texture, hue, and form.
A key feature of the home is the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, facilitated by steel-framed, glass pivot doors. This integration allows for an immersive experience of the surrounding landscape, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior realms.
