How to use Millboard Durafix screws

Blog |

With no pre-drilling, counter sinking or clip fixings required - all you need to do is screw them in. This saves a lot of time and makes Millboard about 20-30% quicker to install than traditional hardwood decking.

Once the screws are in far enough, the Lastane® coating material of the Millboard decking simply flexes back over the screw, leaving a virtually indistinguishable mark and creating a beautiful clean finish. Made from stainless steel, the screws have a self-cutting tip, six-point Torx head and are waxed for ease of use. And the drill bits are even included in the box!

Tips for using Millboard Durafix screws

  • Prepare the screws for use by lightly spraying them with silicone spray - this ensures the screws enter the boards smoothly and helps the top surface of the board to conceal the screw. You can do this while the screws are still in the box; simply apply the spray then shake the box and re-apply the spray a few times to ensure the screws are covered
  • When screwing into the boards, push down onto the screw and ensure that the head goes 5mm beneath the surface of the board
  • Occasionally the Millboard surface may not flex back over the screw properly - simply rub it with your finger which will help re-position it back into place
