Forté achieves a CodeMark Certification

We are excited to announce that we have achieved a CodeMark Certification for our Moda and Urban Collections using the Forte Timber Overlay Flooring System. This was in response to feedback from clients that they are having issues and hold-ups in council issuing consent for timber flooring when specified in Kitchens and other wet areas. 

This is the first CodeMark issued for an overlay flooring product in New Zealand, making Forté the only timber flooring brand/system to have achieved this. We have taken this approach to make it easier for our clients to specify Forté flooring products for the projects, and now have the most comprehensive timber flooring system that is fully compliant with the new building code changes. 

How does it benefit you?

What is CodeMark?

CodeMark is a voluntary product certification scheme that shows a building product or method meets the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code. It is an unchallengeable form of product assurance and has legal status equivalent to that of an Acceptable Solution or Verification Method. 

Building consent authorities must accept a CodeMark certificate as evidence of compliance with the New Zealand Building Code, as long as the product is used in accordance with the scope and limitations defined on the certificate.  

What does this mean for me as a specifier?  

While all our timber flooring collections are compliant with the building code, specifying Moda and Urban products with a CodeMark Certification will ensure council approves applications without question (provided the specification adheres to the scope of use). 

Architects: How do I specify and ensure it is within the Scope of use? 

1. Refer to the Forté Timber Overlay Flooring System Design Guide and to ensure you specify in accordance with the Scope of Use. 
2. Specify the 6311FF Forte Timber Overlay System in MasterSpec, or work with your Forté representative who will be able to assist you in the specification process.  

Builders & Installers: How does this change how I install Forte Timber Flooring? 

1. The council approves the building consent based on the system specified, so it is important that you install in accordance with the architect’s specification. Check this when pricing the job and if there are any concerns with the method or products being used ensure you raise these prior to submitting your price/quote. 
2. Ensure you have read the latest version of the Forté Overlay Flooring System Installation Guide and always follow our guidance alongside the notes on the specification. If information conflicts at any point, please get in touch with the Forte Technical team to discuss solution.
