There is nothing quite like timber. Its natural aesthetic quality creates an authentic and unique environment.

As timber is one of the most natural and unprocessed materials, each tree has original features due to the environment and conditions in which it was grown, with each plank having its own unique character and markings.

This guide explains the different grades and markings of timber, what contributes to colour variation, and what you can expect when your timber solution is installed.

BATCH VARIATION

With pre-finished timber products, there may be colour variation between batches. Forté recommends that you request a current batch sample if this concerns you. Colour variation within batches cannot be represented from a small sample.

COLOUR AND GRAIN VARIATION

Timber is a natural product and will vary in colour and grain pattern from piece to piece, as explained within this booklet. Please understand that our products may differ from what is shown by a display sample or product sample. This variation is part of the natural look and should not be considered a fault.

COLOUR CHANGE OVER TIME

Natural timber products react to sunlight, resulting in fading or darkening over time. For example, natural non-coloured oak takes on a more golden hue from sunlight exposure. This is a naturally occurring process and is not considered a product fault. In general, lighter colours tend to darken while darker colours are more likely to fade.
